The World Is But A Canvas to the Imagination

Time for my second post of the month at Country View Crafts for this month's challenge which is Famous Quotations.

I decided to use the rest of the Graphic 45 Quotations sheet to make a little meandering book measuring 6" x 4" and adding in some of the wonderful ladies from the Graphic 45 Edwardian Diary set.  So my sincere apologies to Ghandi, Joan of Arc and George Bernard Shaw for trivialising their wonderful quotes!

The book is made from a single sheet of 12 x 12 paper stock and folded in half and scored every 4".  There are lots of tutorials for making these books on the internet and there are lots of individual ways of folding the individual pieces to make a lovely meandering book with pockets.  I have included a photo tutorial at the end of this post to show you how I made this particular book.

Lifting up the top cover reveals the pages below:

Opening out the middle of the book reveals these two pages:

And the right hand side page turns down to reveal another two pages underneath:

And the back of the book:

The two tags are covered with more of the papers, one of which I coloured with watercolours (more luck this time!):

And the back of the tags have pictures of my mother in law - Molly Atkinson

and her sister in law - May Atkinson

both very stylish ladies of the period!

I had a lot of fun making this book - it was quite simple and I had a lovely quiet evening cutting everything out whilst chatting to my husband and watching the television.

There is still time to join in our lovely challenge - looking forward to seeing what you create!

So making the book:

Take a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock or paperstock and
score at 6" horizontally and at 4" and 8" vertically

Cut the two side scores as shown

Turn the sheet on its side
(I punched my pockets once I had folded
the book, but as I am now unfolding
it for photographs they look ready punched!)

Now start to fold - turn the top r/h
section over and behind

Fold the bottom l/h section under and
behind

Fold the bottom r/h section up on top

Fold the top l/h section over and behind

And when you fold the middle you
should have your meandering book
you just need to glue down the pockets.
I hope this all makes sense!!
