Wings and Things for A Vintage Journey

It is time for another challenge for you all at A Vintage Journey (how the weeks pass!) and our very talented DT member Sandy has chosen:

Wings and Things

With Spring and Summer comes an abundance of birds, bees and butterflies. Take inspiration from these beautiful summery creatures to create a Tim inspired project, tag or card inspired by these winged beauties.

Now I know that my DT Sisters will have created feast of inspirational projects for you so do hop on over to see them all.

As you can see from my photo I have decided to combine my absolute all time favourite Tim stamp (well … at the moment!) with my growing love of ATB's.

I am always stamping and cutting out butterflies or dragonflies for projects and then I don't use them for one reason or another and so they have just been stacking up in one of the corners of my desk.

So I thought a nice  box would mean I could put them somewhere safe and where I could find them. (I can see this might turn into a range of boxes for the debris on my desk !!)

I used very heavy watercolour paper for my winged panels and used the Distress Watercolour technique  which Tim included in his June tag in 2012 and which you can also find on page 39 of the Compendium of Curiosities Volume III.

I used a selection of Distress Inks: Dusty Concord, Shabby Shutters, Broken China, Evergreen Bough and Forest Moss.

And then it was fun time decorating the top of the box. I made a couple of Tea Roses from the Tattered Pine Cone die using the sandable Co-ordinations card stock - just sanding around the edges to highlight the kraft core.

The dragonfly was stamped again in watercolour paper and then just the wings in Wendy Vecchi's Clearly for Art Modeling Film. I decided he needed a pen nib body in order to hold it all together! There are also leaves from the Spring Greenery die and some Grunge Paste textured lettering.

Finally I added a flap using the Pediments die. I am certainly having a lot of fun making these ATB's - they are rather addictive!

The Wings and Things Challenge will run for two weeks, so there is plenty of time to get those stamps, dies, inks, paints and papers out to create a Tim inspired piece. Just make sure your read the Travelling Instructions before posting your project.

Have fun!
