Eclectic Elements and Crinoline Tatters !

Time for another exciting challenge at A Vintage Journey and Brenda wants us to create

a sewing inspired creation!

Any style, any project as long as you tell us what the Tim influence is in your project (a Tim technique, products, tutorials, etc.) Be adventurous and make whatever you like, it doesn't have to include real sewing but must be focused within that theme.  So what are you waiting for!

Tim's Electic Elements Fabric was the inspiration for my fabric hanging, but I am afraid I got rather carried away with the lace and the collage design and now you can hardly see any of it!!

I started by layering pieces of the Electic Elements onto one 4 x 4 inch piece and sewing them to the hessian individually. Just the same as working with paper. I needed the piece to come alive so I used this paper photograph from one of Tim's early paper stacks.

Then it was a case of adding anything with a sewing theme - lace, buttons, small labels ...

… a couple of safety pins, scissors and a stamped sentiment … it was easy to get quite carried away!!

And finally my flower - I used the Tattered Poinsettia die and cut four of each sized petal in crinoline and a couple of the middle sized ones in scrim. I coloured the pieces with a very watery Vintage Photo Distress Ink which I had puddled on my craft mat and whilst they were drying I scrunched the leaves up a bit. Then it was just a matter of layering them with a vintage brad. I love it and I think the nicest flower made yet with the poinsettia die.

This was so much fun and I hope you will have as much fun joining us for this great challenge. And do hop on over to A Vintage Journey as my AVJ teamies have made the most amazing sewing based creations.

Thank you for visiting - have a lovely weekend.
