Hello Everyone! Today I am sharing my second project of the month for Country View Challenges. The theme of our challenge is "Summertime" and as roses are for me the epitome of summer I decided to create a Rose canvas. The first time I saw this little girl in the Photobooth pack I just knew she was called Rose! and I have been waiting for the opportunity of using her in a project.
I am afraid there are no step by steps as for some reason I completely forgot to take any photographs!
The canvas was prepped with gesso and I created texture using paste, layering stencils and some fussy cut flowers.
Then a little overstamping and spritzing before layering a collage of papers from some old (and much loved) Graphic 45 paper packs.
The layering is quite deep and has been achieved by placing each separate layer on piece of heavy grey board rather than using foam pads. This gives everything a lot more stability.
Once everything was stuck down I used Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain to provide a shadow around the collage and dry brushed gesso here and there to give it a more shabby look.
As I find it very difficult to grow roses here in Shetland (other than the Rosa Rugosas), this is a little bit of rose Summer here in the house along with that gorgeous smile from Rose herself.
As usual thank you for joining me here today and I wish you all a crafty week ahead!

She really does look like a Rose and you have surrounded her by so many beautiful pieces of ephemera. I like how you layered up with the grey board too, such a clever idea. Love this! Hugs, Anne xx
