Make Time

Well hello again!
and Happy New Year (again!)

This time I am sharing our exciting Make Time Moodboard Challenge over at Our Creative Corner.

Claudia is our host this month and here's what she has to say about our first challenge of the year.

Make Time - Moodboard Challenge

Why not promise something good to yourself for the new year's start?

To make more quality time for yourself for example and spend it doing what you love? Creative (or recreational) time always is quality time if you listen to your inner voice and follow your own speed instead of listening to the clock ticking and reminding you of deadlines or other duties. And work will be done so much more easily (and faster) after some recreational me-time as it will have fuelled up your energy! I promise!

So why not escape the endless circling and rushing and get yourself in the right mood for some me-time? The moodboard I have in store for you could be a good start.

I challenge you to calm down, enjoy what you see and let yourself be inspired by it. No precise theme to narrow your creativity down - just the colours, shapes, directions, textures and hints of possible themes.

Whatever you make of it - it will be good! Whatever it sparks in you - I want you to show it and have a good time at your studio desks!

And what a fabulous moodboard it is!

I found this piece of greyboard when I was clearing out the other day and after giving it a good coat of gesso, I chose some DecoArt paints which sort of matched the moodboard. I had no idea where I was going with this but given that "time" is central to our challenge I did lay down a bit of crackle using this Andy Skinner stencil. I decided to brayer on the paints to get a more rustic look.

And then to decorating - although I didn't really want to cover up much of the inking!

I recently got this lovely frame mould and just know that it will be well used!

I haven't made these flowers, but they are so gorgeous.

Some wooden leaves with a light coat of white paint.

And an "arty" shot - testing my new photographic skills!

Well I really had fun with this fabulous mood board and I hope you will too. You have until the end of the month to join us in our challenge and to set aside some time to play and experiment.

Creative Embellishments are our sponsor this month and one lucky winner will have a fabulous voucher to spend in their store.

So thank you to Claudia for a wonderful challenge. Do hop on over to see the most wonderful projects the rest of the OCC Design Team have put together - you can be assured of so much wonderful inspiration!

Thank you for joining me so many times today on this first day of 2016. I will now leave you in peace!

With best wishes to you all!

Beautiful background Jennie and I think like you, I would hesitate to cover it up! However, I'm glad you did in that it looks so stunning with that lovely frame and exquisite bloom. You are still the queen of blooms and stunning neutral palettes - I'm still waiting for lessons from you!! Happy New Year to you Jennie. Julia xxx

Happy New Year to You, Jennie!! You've created such a lovely and calm wall hanging for this first OCC challenge of the year :) I love the gentle color palette you've used--very wintery, and the entire project reminds me of a sun-dial, in its winter repose--I LOVE IT!! XOXO-Shari

Well, I'm finally making some time to get around to see all the wonderful OCC inspiration up close! Jennie, this is just breath taking! I love your always soft color palette, and you've really taken it up a notch by brayering on the colors for the rustic look. and then you've added just the right amount of embellishments to compliment it so beautifully!Love the contrast of the soft flowers and delicate frame against all those rusty and chippy elements. Gorgeous and so inspiring! I hope you are doing well! I think of you often! Hugs!
