Rolled Rose Shabby Posies Tutorial

It is my turn to share another project over at the Country View Crafts Projects blog and today I have another card showcasing the Tammy Tatterow Shabby Posies dies.

This flower is slightly different to the one I made earlier in the month, so please scroll on down if you would like a photo tutorial. Or click the link HERE to go to Country View Crafts and details of the card.

The Shabby Posies Die consists of four individual dies and for this flower I am using the second largest.

I have cut four flower shapes in cream cardstock, but the flower would also look lovely using patterned paper stock too.

Next I blended Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges.

Then spritzed well with water ......

.... before scrunching up using the end of the paintbrush into the centre of the flower.

Then leave to dry naturally.

Once dry open out carefully .... you can see that I wasn't too careful and leaf has torn off, but not to worry as you will see in a minute.

Turn the flowers over and using a ball tool around the outside of the flower petals create a curled edge.

Turn the flower over and press the ball tool into the middle to create the raised flower shape.

Three layers created in this way can then be stuck together. If you want more curls you can curl the edges back further with an old knitting needle.

Then from the fourth flower cut two joining petals and one single one (I used the torn one here).  Roll the single petal up and stick it to the two joining petals and roll them up too shaping the edges a little as you roll.

You then need to trim quite a bit off the edge with some good quality scissors.  You may find the bud unravels a bit at this stage as the die style cuts quite deep petals, but it is easy enough to glue back together again.

Finally glue this rolled bud into the centre of the flower.

This is a nice sized flower which sits well on small projects (this card measures 6" x 3") or can be clustered together on a larger project.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial and find it useful.

Have a great week!
