Learn to be Silent .......

.... which is what I have been trying to do over the last few weeks. After having some wonderful quiet moments whilst sailing I decided to learn a bit about meditation and to try and fit it in to my daily schedule at some point.

I am still very much learning and the hardest part is trying to find 10 minutes each day!

When I saw this quote on Alison Bomber's (Words and Pictures) new stamp set I knew I wanted to make something with it as an aide memoire.

As this is the fifth Friday of the month we have a "Tag Friday" over at A Vintage Journey and so I decided to make a little tag using this quote.

The one thing I have learnt is that thinking of a colour can help relaxation and my mind always seems to gravitate to greyish blue.

I was teaching a workshop at Belmont House in Unst this last weekend and demonstrating PaperArtsy Infusions and so now have some lovely tags to play with. This is Sleight Blue my favourite colour!

Here are a few step by step photographs of how the background developed .........

Stamping with my favourite mesh stamp (Tim Holtz) ......

..... adding some Tissue Tape (Tim Holtz) ......

.... some (subtle) background stamping .....

..... and finally some texture paste.

I kept my cluster as white as possible and thought that silver would better match the grey/blue colour.   My metal embellishments were gold, so I covered them with gesso and rubbed in some Art Alchemy (Finnabair) Metallique Old Silver Wax.

And the lovely quote again.

I can certainly recommend Alison's PaperArtsy stamp release. I have three sets now and I love each one of them.  Details of Alison's first two stamp sets can be found HERE at the PaperArtsy shop and for her second release HERE on the PaperArtsy blog.

Alison is of course a fellow Creative Guide over at A Vintage Journey and if you would like to see what the rest of my creative sisters have created for our Tag Friday then please do hop on over to the blog post for some wonderful inspiration. It's a chance for us to experiment and just create without a theme and so always something different to see.

As always thank you for joining me today and have a great weekend.

I really could just sit and look at this tag for ages Jennie, the colours are so soft and gentle, I love the stencilled words and your embellishments, as always are just perfect. Such a wonderful prompt for your meditating!

I know what you mean about Alison's stamps, I have a slight addiction, the Christmas quotes arrived yesterday and I have already used them on a project! Hugs, Anne xx
You already know I love this tag - the subtle grey tones are perfect for the meditative, reflective mood of the words (one of my "life quotes"), and the delicate layers give it such depth and beauty. Simply wonderful.

Such a beautiful and delicate tag Jennie, the colourways are just perfect for the mood you are trying to convey and so fitting with Alison's quote. I just love the way the background came together, it's made me look at that Tim Mesh stamp (one that I don't have) with totally new eyes... The layers of tissue tape and stencilling make for a perfect composition, - love it all!

Jennie, this tag is a new FAVORITE for me! I love the delicate inky background, with the contrast of the grungy tapes to balance. Your stencil work is immaculate, and all the added embellishments are just perfectly thought out! Truly a LOVELY make! Hugs!

Thank you all for your lovely comments. Margherita (I can't send you an email so hope you pop back here!). The stencil is by 13Arts - they have a lovely selection on their website. Not sure if you are in the UK but the postage from Poland was very reasonable.
