A Winter Wonderland ...

Hello and welcome to the first day of December ! We have a brand new challenge starting over at A Vintage Journey today and our lovely host Sandy has chosen the theme

Winter Wonderland

As the song goes, sleigh bells ring, snow is glistening! Lets see some snow, snowmen, bare trees or some snow covered pines in the meadow! Whatever Winter Wonderland means to you in your vintage, shabby, mixed media; art journalling; industrial or steampunk style.

There are times living here in the north at this time of the year when it feels as though one is living in a sepia photograph. So I had this in my mind when creating this project.

I used a Tim Holtz Vignette Box which got a coat of white chalk paint on the outside and then sanded it down to get a really washed out look.

I then decorated it with one of my favourite Poinsettia flowers made using Tim's Tattered Floral Die.

You can see the tutorial HERE.

A few more flowers and wintry looking seed heads .......

And this gorgeous stag from Calico Craft Parts.  What you can't see is how he sparkles with a lovely pearly shimmer on his white chalk paint!

Very few photographs I am afraid, as I lived in the moment and just made this project quite quickly without too much in the way of mixed media applications. Which is a prompt to suggest that you join us in our challenge this month even though you may have little time with Christmas preparations well under way.

Hop on over to our blog to see what my fellow Creative Guides have to inspire you with this wonderful theme. You will not be disappointed. You will also find all the details for entering this month's challenge and the prize to be won from our sponsor this month - the amazing Andy Skinner!

As always thank you for joining me today and have a great weekend!

Perhaps it doesn't have much in the way of mixed media applications, your vignette certainly does not lack in beautiful shabby details! Your poinsettia is the prettiest I've seen and the way you've finished the box is brilliant! What a gorgeous wintry piece of home decor! Sending WARM hugs as it seems that summer has returned to Wilmington, NC!
