Monochromatic Memories

Well it is another cold and cloudy day here in Shetland, so I am catching up with some blog posts. At last month's Shetland Scrapbookers I was asked to design and lead a layout which had no photographs. It came from the idea that it would be useful to have a design for the first page of an album or for a facing page to one busy with photographs. This is the design I came up with which has many places for pockets and envelopes for journalling.

I absolutely adore these Pion Design Papers and never like to cut into some of them so this was a way of preserving this gorgeous piece. The strip allows the placing of tags and cards for journalling.

An embossed vellum envelope makes room for a few more notes.

This was also a good layout for using up lots of little scraps too.

I thought I would enter this layout into the current Frilly and Funkie challenge which is Monochromatic. However, I do realise that there are a few other colours in there too! Do hop on over and have a look at the amazing DT makes - so much inspiration and an amazing mix of colours. And yesterday Nicole posted a great tutorial for using Texture Fades.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Not even sure where to begin with how much I'm in to this! This page is incredible, there is an elegant simplicity which is often hard to capture, but not here - this is stunning! Love the soft choice in colour, with subtle darker tones in similar hues. xx

Stunning, Jennie! Just a beautiful page and I love all of the little tags you included for journaling and the little vellum envelope for keeping those more special notes :) So Lovely! Happy Weekend to you!! Sounds like you've got a bit of the June Gloom weather going on--happens over here, too!! We usually do not have Summer until after July 4th :) :) Hang on--the hot weather will return :) :) XOXO-Shari

I cannot think of anything harder to do than create a layout without at least one photo - but you have achieved it beautifully Jennie! The monochromatic works so well and I love all the little nooks and crannies for storing and hiding things away. This is such a clever idea!

No consolation but it is cold and wet down here too.... let's hope July and August bring us some warm, sunny days! Hugs, Anne xx

Totally gorgeous layout Jennie, wowsers!! It looks perfectly monochromatic to me! Not sure how you managed to make this page clean and shabby at the same time, but you have!! What a glorious creation!!

Thank you so much for joining us at Frilly and Funkie for our 'Monochromatic' challenge! Hugs, Pamellia DT :)

While there may be one other colour on your page the overall look is monochromatic and is fabulous. I love all the little pockets and the vintage bits to go with your always gorgeous flowers. Thanks for joining us at Frilly and Funkie.
Hugs!
