12 Tags of 2016 : August Remix

I have had a lovely afternoon catching up with my Tim tag for this month and needless to say I have gone a bit off-piste with the background!

As usual if you want to see Tim's tag and this month's remix techniques then do click the link here

I was a little limited by my (very limited!) palette of Distress Stains: I have used Dusty Concord and Victorian Velvet for the braying and for the Browns Brushed Corduroy and Gathered Twigs.

I thought the brayering looked like an old wooden fence, so I ended up scoring my tag and rubbing in some more Gathered Twigs to make it look like wood panels before splotching it all over with white Gesso.

Otherwise it is pretty much the same as Tim's. My sewing machine is still rather hidden so I had to resort to some faux stitching.

Another great remix tag and as I am so late, only a couple of days to wait for the next one !!

As always thank you for joining me today and now that things are settling down a little with laying up the boat and preparing for the panto I hope to start visiting blogs which I have so missed.

Summertime .... and the living is easy .....

Oh how I wish it was!

Hot Summer Days is our challenge this month over at Country View Challenges and for my second project I have again had fun in my art journal, trying to create the feel of a hot summer day.

I created a watery watercolour style background using Mermaid Lagoon, Crushed Olive, Wild Honey and Peeled Paint Distress Inks.

Again I have created a number of layers using stamps and layering stencils.

I love the fact that creating an art journal page is so fluid, having no real initial plan, creating the background and then hunting out stamps which go with your thoughts. I love it and am getting quite hooked!

As ever, thank you for joining me today.

A sneak peak of my project over at PaperArtsy tonight where our theme is patterns.

I do so hope you can join me.

It is lovely to be home again after my long (wet) cruise on the West Coast of Scotland and I can't wait to get back to inky/painty fingers again!

Hot Summer Days .........

It might not be what we are getting at the moment! but over at Country View Challenges we want to see your Hot Summer Days projects!

I thought this challenge theme would make for a great art journal page using these wonderful Artistic Outpost stamps.

I have no photographs of the process I am afraid as I got quite carried away inking and stamping! I have used Distress Spray Stains to create the wonderful colours in the background: Carved Pumpkin, Wild Honey and Salty Ocean.

There are quite a few layers in there - crackle texture paste, layering stencils, stamped bottle tops again all using the same colours as the background.

I do hope you will join us for our fabulous challenge theme chosen this month by Jane and you could be in with the chance of being our random winner for a Voucher to be used in the Country View Crafts Shop or be one of our top three and get the chance to be a Guest Designer in a future month.

Hop on over to Country View Challenges to get all the details.

Thank you for joining me today for what is yet another scheduled post as I am hopefully still sailing the high seas! (or hopefully not too high ......)
