Crafting at Sea …….

Today I am sharing my holiday journal as some of you have expressed an interest in seeing how I put it together. This is a rather photo heavy post, so I hope I won't bore you all!

As some of you know I took away an already prepared journal full of tags and empty pages. I had some bits and pieces in my 12 x 12 box which included some Distress Inks and a few stamps.

This is my crafting area on the boat - on the forepeak bunks and everything balanced on the lid of my box. It works fine until another boat goes past!

I enjoy creating little collages and incorporating flaps and pockets.

A double flap page.

I like turning my writing around the page so I am writing in a smaller area.

Incorporating lots of blank tags in the bound journal is really important - it is nice to write about specific events on these.

I found this card in a shop in Tobermory and made it into another flap! I have left a space here for a photograph.

And these are some of the journals from our other cruises

Although we have the ships log my journals are a record of places visited, the funny things which happen, awful boat names, wildlife spotted and the friends we have met along the way.

I do other things on board!

I do a lot of knitting and this year quite a bit of spindle spinning (T shirt and shorts whilst sailing!).

Helming (this was 5 am in the morning!)...

Bake Bread ...

Concertina Practice (I am learning) …

Sometimes I forget to comb my hair …

Sometimes I remember …

Always something to smile about ...

We have a fabulous boat …

and we really do enjoy our time together and are already planning next year's trip.

If you have got the end of this well done!

Thanks for joining me today.

Great to see photos of your sailing holiday, Jennie. Looks like you had super weather this year. Amazing journal considering the limited space on the boat!

Oh Jennie, I for one LOVED reading your post!!! I am so impressed with your journal, it looks stunning and what an amazing keep sake! So many creative ideas in there! The photos are wonderful too, I am specially impressed with your spindle spinning!!! I used to do a lot of spinning and plant dying before paper craft took over, but I never truly managed the spindle. Thank you so much for sharing this aspect of your life, the photos are so lovely!!!!
