Topsy Turvey

Welcome everyone to my second post of today - it being the first of the month! This time it is to share the new challenge at Our Creative Corner which is

We often try to do the things the right way, use the suitable thing, organise our creations following definite lines or intentions …. sometimes it doesn't go the way we wanted it to and sometimes it goes in the bin, but sometimes we discover something new …. and we love it!

So at OCC we want you to play, whether it is upside down, inverted, reversed or escaping from the right order, whatever you decide, let us see your topsy turvey creation and how it came to life in your hands.

For my topsy turvey challenge I decided to change the order of the way I create my backgrounds. I normally create them in the order of: Gesso, Texture Paste, Inks/Sprays and then stamp text. So for this tag I did the reverse: stamped the text, added Distress Inks using the wrinkle free distress technique, added texture paste and then covered it all with gesso. And I LOVE the result which is quite different.

And I didn't exactly use subtle colours!

I didn't want to lose too much of the background so I decorated it lightly with another tag created in the same way and some white and cream embellishments.

Thank you Lys for a GREAT challenge making us think outside the box and play!

I hope my tag and the rest of my DT teamies projects will inspire you to have a go at this great challenge. Click HERE to hop on over to OCC to see all the team's amazing projects and details of the challenge.

Deco Art are our sponsors for this month and a fabulous prize on offer: A Decoart Media Sampler Kit and Andy is including a few of his stencils too.

Wow! what a great prize!

Thank you for joining me again today and I hope you have a great weekend.

Jennie, your tag is lovely. It is amazing how the colors were softened with gesso.

A stunning background Jennie which is as beautiful as your others! Love the hint of colour knocked backed just enough by the gesso and the text shining through the layers. Perfectly finished with all those other gorgeous elements too. A real beauty. Julia xx

A beautiful tag, Jennie! The reverse order you used your techniques gives a wonderful result! Who could have guess those colours would be so softened in the end? I love the shabby feel!

Ooh gorgeous and love that you reversed your technique, sometimes it's scary but it does pay off. Your tag is just amazeballs and shabbilicious all in one xx
What fun to reverse your usual process - and the results are just as lovely!!
