I love this quote and thought it would suit this photograph well.  It is not a good photograph in that I had to hide various bits of the hall architecture!  But it fitted in well with this month's Swirlyhues colours.

Here is the storyboard:  quite a bit out of my comfort zone!  But I was determined to keep the strong colours - being a bit of a wimpish sort of person, I have tended to soften the colours in past months.  And green ..... ooooch just not what I use at all.  But once I started I really enjoyed this.  This month the layout was optional, so I have used for inspiration Lisa's tutorial for this month's kit which includes "burlap" probably what we would call hessian, and the layering tutorial again.   I have used papers from Tim Holtz and Basic Grey.

The flowers were made from Tim Holtz Craft Co-ordinations, very thick to manipulate as the water just doesn't soak in. They are loosely based around Pascale's Camelot Flower Tutorial.  Instead of inking the edges and creases I used some smooth sandpaper to reveal the craft core.    The pearl stick pins were coloured with alcohol inks and I managed to get my last few drops of Shabby Shutters Distress Crackle Paint out of the pot!

In case anyone is interested, this spinning wheel is a copy of an old one found in a house clearance in Shetland.  My husband made it for me last Christmas and it spins beautifully.  Here I am spinning natural white Shetland wool very finely for a half shawl I hope to knit.
