A Bountiful Harvest Wreath

A warm hello to everyone (including new followers) on this last day of October. Despite being Halloween, today sees the start of a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey chosen by our lovely Sandy.  The theme is:

Bountiful Harvest

For this challenge we want you to think about Harvest - pumpkins, wheat, corn and even the harvest moon could be in order.  For those in the US, a thanksgiving theme would work as well. 

As we are a Tim Holtz inspired challenge we want to see your projects either incorporating his products or techniques in a shabby vintage style.

I decided to make a Harvest Wreath from a small Styrofoam base which I covered in strips of hessian.

I made the leaves first die cutting a large amount from cream cardstock using the Tattered Leaves die.

I used a number of Distress Inks and Tim's Wrinkle Free Distress Technique:

Squeezed Lemon
Aged Mahogany
Peeled Paint
Ripe Persimmon
Crushed Olive
Gathered Twigs

Once dry I embossed them all with the "9724" folder - one of my favourites!

Then for the flowers I used the Tattered Poinsettia die and some coffee filters (I bought the wrong size by mistake!). 

I used the two smallest petals from the die and used the same Distress Inks as the leaves spritzing the inks on my mat and then swishing the leaves through them and scrunched them up.

Once dry I layered them and scrunched them up again. They actually look more like crumpled leaves than flowers!

One of Tim's metal ornate frames got a bit of "treatment" with some Rusty Hinge Distress Paint and the moments sentiment from Simple Sayings just fits this space perfectly.

Then it was a matter of putting it all together on the wreath.  It smells lovely as I also raided some nuts and seeds from the potpourri bowl in the sitting room!
