Halloween Luminary for A Vintage Journey

If you hadn't noticed that Halloween was nearly upon us then you must have been on another planet!

For our new challenge at A Vintage Journey for starting today we are challenging you to use at least one die on your Halloween creation. The very talented Anne has chosen the theme and whilst you don't have to make anything scary or spooky (but it would be fun if you did!), you must use at least one die on your creation and remember too that it must be strongly influenced by Tim Holtz. 

I recently purchased Tim's Luminary die with thoughts of creating pretty little flowery pieces never thinking I would be using it for the very first time for something spooky!

These are the pieces I started with - cut in orange cardstock and overstamped with an Indigo Blu Crackle stamp. Black Soot Distress Ink was blended around the edges too.

This is the base made up and I cut a strip of spooky houses from the Townscape Die and joined them into a circle. They fit the base perfectly!

I am afraid there are no pictures of me making the box! It is quite fiddly, but very worth the effort. I had pictured ivy leaves hanging off the luminary so I cut three branches from the Spring Greenery Die using sandable cardstock.  And some little flowers from the Tattered Florals Die which I coloured with Black Soot Distress Ink (I have never actually used this pad before!).

I had some fun putting together some of Tim's Stamps and Rub Ons for the top and used the Rosette Die for a bit of height. I really wanted a little pumpkin, so - please don't laugh at it! - I made this from paper clay which I coloured with Rusty Hinge and Peeled Paint Distress Re-inkers. It isn't great but given there was no chance of buying one here in Shetland, this was the only solution!

Even without a lamp inside the spooky houses shine through the Frosted Film windows.

But with a lamp ……………

I am so pleased with this little luminary and I surprised myself my using five dies to complete the project. I had such great fun putting it all together and can't wait to try the luminary again but in a more shabby vintage style. Watch this space!
