Vintage Box and Book Workshop
I am a little late sharing these photographs of my last workshop here in Shetland. Over the weekend we covered a paper machie box in a vintage style and also made a small mini-book to go inside.
This is a VERY photo heavy post so be warned! but will hopefully act as an aide memoire for those who attended.
Before starting the project we made flowers for both the box and book. There is a tutorial HERE on my blog if you would like to know how these were made.
The paper mache boxes measured 5" x 5" and the edges were first painted with white acrylic paint and then scruffed up a little. We then used Maja Design Vintage Spring papers to cover the box inside and out and also to make the banner embellishments on the front. A little Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint on a die cut leaf and a few other vintage embellishments completed the box and by this time our flowers were dry.
And then to the book which when folded measures 4" x 4" and is made by accordion folding 12" x 4" strips.

This is the inside when folded out completely.
Left hand side with pocket and tags.
Middle section with belly band and a little file folder tag.
Right hand side again with bely bands and tags.
This is the reverse side.
Left hand side with a double pocket and stamped tickets.
The middle section - upside down as the flaps fold over (see below)
Right hand side with another double pocket.
And now to the folding which is the main reason for my posting all these photographs as it caused a bit of confusion! The right hand side accordion folds into the centre first.
The left hand side is then folded into the centre.
The bottom flap is folded upwards.
And the top flap folded downwards.
I hope that all makes sense !!
Every scrap is used - a little tag book made from the last few pieces.
Just to show you that we do have some sunshine here!
We craft in the school dining hall where there is plenty of light and room too.
If you are still with this well done!
