Nostalgic Christmas

My heavens where did November go! Here we are 1st December and only 23 days to Christmas Day !!

As it is the first day of the month it is time for a new challenge at Country View Challenges (sponsored by Country View Crafts) and we are asking you to share with us your Nostalgic Christmas projects - memories of Christmas' past.

For me candles are the
essence of Christmas - whether a candlelight Carol Service and Midnight Mass at Church or sitting by the fire with a good book on Boxing Day. These days we seem to have candles lit all year, but when I was young candles were only lit at Christmas (there was the utility box of candles in the kitchen for power cut use only!)

I recently discovered LED battery candles and decided to use one and dress it up for Christmas, something I have always wanted to do, but obviously not able to do with a proper candle.

I created a band to go around the candle using Tim's Wrinkle Free Distress Technique and Pumice Stone and Antique Linen Distress Inks and then overstamping with a lovely music stamp. Then I dressed it up with some red paper, lace, a bit of hessian ribbon, some  Tattered Floral Roses (of course!), leaves from the Tattered Pinecone Die and some lovely red rose hips taken from an old Christmas table centrepiece.

This honestly took very little time to put together and will make a lovely present for a favourite friend who loves candles.

I do hope you will join us for our challenge at Country View Challenges and do hop on over to the blog as the rest of the team have some amazing pieces for you.  Keep popping back too as we will have more for you through the month.

Thanks for joining me today!

Jennie x

PS Apologies for the lack of photographs - it has been so dark this week and of course here in the North we are now well into the darkest days of winter.

This is gorgeous Jennie, love the elements you have put together to decorate the candle and you have spurred me on to think about how I decorate mine. (I did get a glass of wine eventually last night lol).
Have a great week xx

That will make such a beautiful table centrepiece, Jennie - what a good idea to work with LED candles - no fear of your gorgeous flowers going up in smoke!! Just lovely.

Gorgeous idea Jennie and so beautiful with your stunning flowers! I'm always put off by battery candles but this looks amazing - perhaps I could rust one!! A really creative project. (I still think you are the queen of flowers and scrapping too!).
Have a good week,
