Dream Destination

I am amazed at how quickly the weeks whizz past! and here were are again at the start of another challenge at A Vintage Journey! Annie is our host this month and she has challenged us with a Tic Tac Toe! If you have not played one of these before then you are in for some fun!

Take any line of products - horizontal, vertical or across - and ensure that you use these products in your project. Just make sure to tell us in your post which line you have chosen.

I went for the top line - Ideology, Sprays and Ribbon/Twine. My Dream Destination for many many years has been New York and I will be going there in a few short weeks time! I can't wait and so I have made this plaque to hang by my desk and probably when I get home I will make it the cover of a mini-book.

I started with a piece of white board and used the Movers and Shapers Die to cut the word "dream". Although the board was white I gave it a coat of gesso so that the inky textures and effects I wanted to create had something to stick to.

I used some torn tissue tape here and there (at the time the fact this was French text didn't actually occur to me!).  

I used the gothic layering stencil with Tim Holtz texture paste and when dry sprayed everything with Rusty Hinge and Wild Honey Spray Stains. Some flicks of water ensured that I got this lovely speckled effect.

A little Rusty Hinge Distress Ink blended around the edges and a little Treasure Gold rubbed onto the texture paste finished it off.

I was actually very pleased with the background and didn't want to cover it with too much. For the Ideology element of the challenge I painted the frame first with a little Antique Bronze Distress Paint and then rubbed Treasure Gold onto the raised pattern.

I also changed the colour of the metal word band with the Treasure Gold and held this on with twine and added a twist of Tim's Ribbon Film Strip. Oh and the french text got covered up with Remnant Rubs!

The flowers were edged with Rusty Hinge and Wild Honey Distress Inks and made in my usual way. I love the way the New York strip from the Papillon stamp just fits the frame perfectly.

Finally I mounted the piece onto more white board covered with brown cardstock.

This will probably be the first of my New York makes! but not the last!
