Be Your Beautiful Self
Make Your Own Background
For this layered tag I have gone back to my usual texture paste, distress inks and favourite stamps to create the background of the tag.
I always cover my tag with gesso before adding the texture paste - this gives it a bit of bite for the texture paste to adhere to, but I love the way the inks react with the gesso and helps with getting a lighter colour. I have used Ground Espresso and Hickory Smoke Distress Sprays, both very dark colours, but by adding a lot of water and mopping up it is easy to achieve the lighter colours. Without the gesso, the water would seep through the tag and end up in a soggy mess!
I ended up covering up quite a lot of the tag with my layers! I used Ground Espresso quite heavily for the stamped labels and also for spritzing the little rose and colouring the photo strip. You really wouldn't think they were from the same ink pad!
A lighter label sets off the darker colours of the other embellishments, along with the gessoed key.
Thank you for joining me today and I hope you find time to join us in our challenge.
Have a great creative week.
