Learn to be Silent .......
.... which is what I have been trying to do over the last few weeks. After having some wonderful quiet moments whilst sailing I decided to learn a bit about meditation and to try and fit it in to my daily schedule at some point.
I am still very much learning and the hardest part is trying to find 10 minutes each day!
When I saw this quote on Alison Bomber's (Words and Pictures) new stamp set I knew I wanted to make something with it as an aide memoire.
As this is the fifth Friday of the month we have a "Tag Friday" over at A Vintage Journey and so I decided to make a little tag using this quote.
The one thing I have learnt is that thinking of a colour can help relaxation and my mind always seems to gravitate to greyish blue.
I was teaching a workshop at Belmont House in Unst this last weekend and demonstrating PaperArtsy Infusions and so now have some lovely tags to play with. This is Sleight Blue my favourite colour!
Here are a few step by step photographs of how the background developed .........
Stamping with my favourite mesh stamp (Tim Holtz) ......
..... adding some Tissue Tape (Tim Holtz) ......
.... some (subtle) background stamping .....
..... and finally some texture paste.
I kept my cluster as white as possible and thought that silver would better match the grey/blue colour. My metal embellishments were gold, so I covered them with gesso and rubbed in some Art Alchemy (Finnabair) Metallique Old Silver Wax.
And the lovely quote again.
I can certainly recommend Alison's PaperArtsy stamp release. I have three sets now and I love each one of them. Details of Alison's first two stamp sets can be found HERE at the PaperArtsy shop and for her second release HERE on the PaperArtsy blog.
Alison is of course a fellow Creative Guide over at A Vintage Journey and if you would like to see what the rest of my creative sisters have created for our Tag Friday then please do hop on over to the blog post for some wonderful inspiration. It's a chance for us to experiment and just create without a theme and so always something different to see.
As always thank you for joining me today and have a great weekend.
