My Hearts Desire

Hello everyone and welcome to the first of two posts today it being the first of the month. Where on earth did January go !!

We have a wonderful new challenge starting today over at A Vintage Journey today. The lovely Annie is our host and her theme for us is:

YOUR HEARTS DESIRE

Since February is the month of love, include hearts as the main focus of your project.
Just be sure your design is in keeping with our vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling,
industrial, timeworn or steampunk styles we prefer.

As always there is an amazing array of heart themed projects by my fellow Creative Guides for your inspiration, so I hope you will hop on over and take a look and also join us in our challenge.

Well inspiration has been a bit lacking here in the Tingwall craft room since the New Year. So how to kick start it ....... I decided to turn the challenge theme on it's head and and pick out all the things that in the past have been MY hearts desire.

So a mixed media piece on a beer mat (using hearts of course), jade Infusions, flowers and buttons and those crazy glass beads I seem to love but which go everywhere!

I am afraid there are no step by step photographs as I believed it might go into the bin as had everything else these last few weeks!

I started with some builder's scrim and lace on the MDF beer mat and added some MDF elements from Calico Craft Parts.

I managed to balance things on top of each other so the piece had a bit of depth .

Then everything got a coat of gesso before adding the "A Bit Jaded" Infusions and plenty of water.

A little bit of stamping came next, but there wasn't much room left to get a stamp in! By this stage I was beginning to love what I had made and realised the bin wasn't going to be the recipient, so I managed to add the word to the heart.

A rub with some soft gold wax and a sprinkling of the gold beads.

Thankfully the exercise worked and I feel now that I have got going again ..... !

Thank you so much for joining me today and I'll be back in a few hours with another Mini Album for the Mini Album Makers Challenge for February.

Jeannie this is so gorgeous. I wish I knew how to do some of these techniques. It's on my 2019 "learn to do" list. lol. Thanks for the inspiration.

Best beer mat ever!! Love this Jennie, beautiful arrangement, you are SO good with Infusions - I tend to be way too heavy handed and the gold touches are just perfect.

No need for step by steps when we can just jump right in and delve into all those layers and texture. A beautiful combination of colour all packed into one small beer mat. A mini treat for us all and the best use of a beer mat I have seen in a long while.
Wishing you a fabulous weekend Hugs Tracey xx

Looking at this there is no way you could tell that Mr Mojo has been missing Jennie, it just came together perfectly!! Love all the texture and how you brought it all together and those blue tones are just stunning! A really beautiful plaque! It's hard to imagine it's only the size of a beermat...
You kick-started that Mojo with a vengeance, and a wonderful twist on the theme. I love your celebration of all the things which have filled your heart with desire! The textures, the colours, the dimension here ... it's all stunning, especially with your trademark subtle Infusions. Thank goodness the bin didn't get fed!

THUD! You have blown me away with your beautiful, textural composition, Jennie! I was so surprised you got all this lovely detail on such a small substrate. And those details are so perfectly layered and finished with the blues and touches of gold. Brilliant work of art!

So sorry to be so late in getting over here to let you know how lovely your heart project is Jennie! I seem to have missed the whole AVJ post and am just awakening to it! What lovely layering of pieces, colors and pastes here all on a simple coaster base - and the gold/aqua colors are beautiful! xx
