Live Gently ...... and experiment!

Hello and welcome to you all!

I seem to have lost my way a bit just lately with my mixed media products and desperately felt the need to experiment. So today's Tag Friday at A Vintage Journey was a good excuse to just create with .... well whatever!

I loved the background that I created using some techniques learnt recently but using different products.

Some new products which have arrived recently and which hadn't really had a good outing!

And a sentiment to live by given the last few hectic weeks!

So here is how I made the background (mainly so that I can remember how I did it). The photographs look a bit grubby as we are in the middle of a huge storm which has been raging for two days so far!

The large greyboard tag was first given a coat of gesso.
I then layered strips of Tim Holtz Design Tape and added some stamping.

DecoArt Crackle Paint was applied with a palette knife.
At this stage I really thought I had been too heavy handed and lost the background!

Next my beloved Sleight Grey Infusions .... they have to be my favourite colour!
I added lots of water and mopped alot of the colour up.

And finally a clean white texture paste layer using a new stencil from Finnabair.

I used my new Tim Holtz Wildflower Stems die to cut the flower from blue cardstock.
It looked a bit bland and didn't really match the background so I spritzed it with water and shook a little of the Infusions here and there.
To give it more body I then embossed it with clear powder.
I really love this final look.

A tag with a real crafty feel good factor ..... just hope it lasts!

Thank you so much for joining me today and do hop on over to A Vintage Journey to see the fabulous tags my fellow Creative Guides have created.

Have a great weekend and happy crafting!

Wonderful textures and design on your tag background Jennie1 love the whites and the beautiful crackle with the single colored stem overlay. The sentiment makes you stop and think about what we are doing to our beautiful earth. xx
Isn't it amazing how those first layers can still peep through after all that is thrown at them, just like nature within the storm, it always finds its path to raise it's head again. That stencil is fabulous Jennie and it's a beautiful way of showing it off. Your stunning mixed media tag has really made itself known. Thank you for sharing. Hugs Tracey x

Oh my Jennie this is such a stunning tag with those glorious layers and shabby background. I love the colours and that beautiful contrasting wildflower placed on top. I don’t know how you manage to fit everything in what with digging the tunnel, working on the production, knitting, spinning, learning a new instrument, I could go on ...... I’m just so happy you are sharing such beautiful art with us too.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend xxx

Oh wow Jennie, every single step of this tag just made my heart sing, from the first layers of washi and stamping, the the gesso, crackle and stencil with this Finnabair stencil (one of my absolute favs that I seem to be using all the time) the super subtle infusions to the finishing touch with the wildflower stem, an absolute beauty of a tag!!! It strikes me that perhaps your mixed media mojo lay dormant for a bit, but you most certainly have not lost your way, this is stunning with a BIG S!!!

A fabulous tag to play with those new techniques and products and the result is incredible beauty! I love your soft background and that stunning wildflower stem. The color is just lovely and the clear embossing makes it stand out over that perfect stencil work. A real beauty, as always, Jennie! Hugs! And take care of yourself in the storm; I hope all is well.
An absolutely stunning tag, Jennie - I'm inspired to go and play right now with that gorgeous background layering technique. I adore the subtle colour tones, and then that gorgeous earthy blue flower stem over the top. I've just bought that stencil too, so I'm all set to have a go at this! It looks to me as though your creativity has come flooding back into action after all that busy work on the show.
