Going for Gold ........
I am a now and then member of the Shetland Guild of Embroiderers, mainly because I am not good with a needle and anything fiddly. My needlework school report in the late 60s described me as a great plodder! But I was really amazed to see some of the mixed media work at their last exhibition along with an amazing array of quilts and 3D sewn and felted work. A number of members in the Guild have encouraged me to enter a piece in this year's competition the theme of which is Going for Gold ..... (and it didn't have to celebrate the Olympics).
This is a small array of mixed pieces - lace, paper, marram paper, cardstock, scrim and a piece of carpet base (no idea where I got that from!), sewn onto a Calico base. There is a bit of stamping, but it got a bit hidden. Then a bit of free style machine embroidery, the flowers being painted with Koh-in-Noor watercolours which amazingly worked! And finally a bit of embossing (a cork washer), gold thread and some seed beads. No real design, quite small, but I had alot of fun doing it.
Again thanks for looking and I hope you all have a great weekend.
