Mini mini books ..........

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to those of you who have started following in the last couple of weeks.  I really appreciate your support and having you around.

As soon as I saw Jean Hardy's little fold out card in this month's Craft Stamper I had to have a go.  I thought the idea would make a lovely photo book, so I set to and started making these for my friends who visited Shetland last year and now I can't stop making them!!

I have made my photo books quite small - the little book measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" (ATC size) and the wallet is not much bigger. ( I'll give you the sizes below in case you want to have a go).  This is a great size for using up  photographs which need cropping.

The books need to be kept quite flat in order to fit in the wallet, but you can have great fun decorating the wallet!

I've made three so far and need another two to complete a set for the five of us!

Sizes:  Each book and wallet needs a single sheet of 12 x 12.  First I cut the book:

Outside cover:  7" x 2 1/2" which folds in half
Inside pages:  12" x 2 1/4" which I folded concertina style inside the book.

This is how I make my wallets for journals, ATCs etc.  I hope you can see the measurements from the photograph (the flaps are 6/8").

Then I used the rest of the sheet and some additional scraps to decorate the book and wallet.  I think these would make lovely birthday cards or for a special occasion such as a ruby anniversary.

We are still struggling with the old computer (the new one MUST arrive tomorrow) and so I have been visiting and commenting from the I-Pad but I don't seem to have set that up correctly and so could only leave one word comments on many of your blogs!  I hoped you didn't think I was being a bit strange!  Normal service will be resumed (I very much hope!) this coming week.

We have a very special visitor at the moment - my little grandson (and his Mum and Dad of course) who is chattering away from dawn till dusk.  Absolutely delightful - if a little hard on the old knees!

Your mini-mini-books are just delicious, Jennie - love the lettering and embellishing on the wallets! And what an adorable photo of your grandson (poor parents, relegated to the brackets)!
