The Soft Side of Steampunk!

We are well into this month's challenge at Anything But A Card and there are some fabulous pieces from my fellow Design Team members along with some amazing entries too.  Our theme is STEAMPUNK which is always very popular. So … for something completely different I thought I would work with a completely different colour palette to anything else I have ever done. Brace yourselves and do not adjust your colour monitor!

While I was visiting Annie and Rita last week I did manage to emboss a few pieces of card stock with folders I did not have, so this blueprint piece came in very handy. I used Weathered Wood and Pumice Stone Distress Inks and Wrinkle Free Distress and when dry added some Treasure Gold Silver here and there.  It really looks like metal!

I stayed with the Weathered Wood and used Distress Crackle on my cog and also for the edges of my flower (I can't stop making these at the moment- sorry!).  I haven't used Weathered Wood in ages, in fact it was the very first Distress Ink Pad I ever bought.

Then it was a bit of a hunt for metal items - I love these vintage brads by Stampin Up.

Some metal grey lace, wire and silver embellishment left over from my Finnabair workshop.

Not my usual - but a lot of fun! I really am trying to use different colour combinations at the moment to try and break away from my "normal" sepia/brown palette.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope you might find time to join us at Anything But a Card for this month's challenge.

You did a great job steering away from your usual palette because this is beautiful, I love the steampunk theme in those softer tones and your flower, as always, is a stunner. Anne x
Love this color palette. I am still struggling to make one! This is inspiring for me as I have not ventured in this genre at all! Thanks, Jennie.

How wonderful, Jeannie! LOVE the colors you used and how you toned down steampunk and made it shabby. Bravo - brilliant piece of work!
