My World is Full of Butterflies ……...

Good morning everyone on this first day of November (how did that happen!) and time for our new monthly challenge at Country View Challenges which this month is:

Bugs, Bees and
Butterflies

As I am not a great lover of bugs and bees (haunted by the former whilst camping and some bad stings from the latter over the years) I decided to stick with Butterflies and created this plaque from a piece of 3" x 8" greyboard.

I coated my greyboard with gesso first and allowed it to dry well as it did soak into the greyboard.

I used the Harlequinn Layering Stencil and Ranger Texture Paste to add some texture in the two corners.

I added some torn tissue tape. (At this stage I intended to put my flower cluster in the middle - you will see soon why I had to change my plans!)

Finally I added some Prima linen flower shapes which had been in my Finnabair pack back in May.

Then it was time to spritz! I used Evergreen Bough Distress Stain spray (I just love this colour) and was very pleased to see that the different textures on the board took the spray differently with the tape acting as a resist.

And hey where did those white marks come from! Now you can see why I had to change my design!

I then went around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

This is a new ink pad as I needed extra's for workshops and the colour is a slightly different colour in comparison with the old one - more mahogany brown, but goes very well with Evergreen Bough.

And then it was time to decorate with the usual suspects and some favourite butterfly stamps again using the same Vintage Photo Distress Ink Pad.

I added some chit chat stickers to the bottom and added some Glossy Accents to the bodies of the butterflies.

I decided not to make this into a wall hanging at this stage as I have an idea to make three plaques and mount them onto a canvas - so watch this space!

I do hope you will join us in our challenge this month. Don't forget that winners and the top three get a chance to return as Guest Designers another month.

And do hop on over to the blog as my teamies have created some amazing pieces. I shall see you later in the month with my second project.

Thank you for visiting today and have a lovely weekend.
