Let's Celebrate with Tattered Poinsettias !

Well with just little more than two weeks to go before the big day we have a new challenge at A Vintage Journey and our host this month is the lovely Nikki and she has chosen the theme

Let's Celebrate !

You may wish to make something to celebrate Christmas, but let us not forget about those December birthdays, anniversaries, Hanukkah and New Year.  

It may be fun to focus on celebrations other than 

Christmas - it is up to you!

I have decided to go with the Christmas theme and have made a table decoration showcasing my handmade Tattered Poinsettias. We always eat "bistro" style in the kitchen, but for the Twelve Days of Christmas we move to the dining room for our meals and sit around the large, round wooden dining table made by my husband a few years ago. So this should sit perfectly in the middle.

I had great fun making a bunch of poinsettias using the Tatted Poinsettia die. These were cut from Stampin Up Whisper White cardstock and spritzed with Perfect Pearls. 

I used my shabby water technique to create the flowers (tutorial HERE on my blog) and cut four large and four small petals for each flower. When they had fully  dried I took out the brad very carefully and replaced it with the stamens.

The red ones were made in exactly the same way using Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler cardstock and spritzing them with Perfect Pearls.

I finished each flower off with a large petal cut in white and spritzed with Peeled Paint Distress Stain Spray. Amazingly the cardstock took the colour in a very  mottled way which creates a lovely texture without doing very much!

I also made some pinecones using the Tattered Pinecone die (finally using it for pinecones instead of flowers!).

I have clustered the flowers around an LED candle and on this old family plate - rather tarnished but loved!
