Baby You're a Firework !!!

Fireworks are a big part of celebrations at this time of the year, so at A Vintage Journey we are celebrating the start of a new month and a new challenge with the theme

Baby You're a Firework!

Be inspired by fireworks to create a Tim style project - think Distress Glitter, Bold Colours, Ink and Paint Splats and just ….. FUN !!!!

So go on, light up that night sky !

To be honest I am not a great lover of fireworks unless I am behind glass as a rocket landed in my hair many years ago as a child which was quite a frightening experience. But I do love watching all the wonderful colours lighting up the sky at this time of the year. So I decided to recreate the wonderful clusters of firework colours by using Tim's Rosette Die (when did you last get that one out!).

I used black gesso on some greyboard and also mixed black gesso into some texture paste to imitate a firework sparkly sky. Some splatters of white gesso and some star remnant rubs added to the night sky background.

I painted strips of white cardstock with Rusty Hinge and Barn Door Distress Paints before making the rosettes. I pulled the paint in one direction along the paper and the rosettes do look as though they are spinning (like Catherine Wheels), although this is quite hard to photograph!

I managed to cut off the tops of some glass pins for the centres of the rosettes - hard work but they do add a little bit of sparkle!

I do hope you have some fun creating some wonderful fireworks for our challenge. Do hop on over to A Vintage Journey for details of the challenge and to see how the rest of the Creative Guides have interpreted this challenge. I promise you there is an amazing array of different projects.

Thank you for joining me today and have a great weekend.

What a clever idea to use the rosettes - they look fabulous, especially with the smoky swirls of the flourish in the background - gorgeous!

What wonderful colors with the black sky and reds in the rosettes (no I haven't used them for some time!) colors not usually seen here in your projects but perfect for the dark night fireworks display! Great texture on your sky Jennie! Sounds like many of you are having a fun crafty weekend together! How fun! (your link on the AVJ blog isn't working...?)

This is such a fabulous work of art and interpretation of the theme Jennie . I love the blackground and the way you have imitated a firework sparkly night sky . Your Catherine wheels are fabulous and brought back such happy memories for me as they were always one of my favourite fireworks as a child - finding somewhere to attach them to always seemed to me to be more of a challenge then just sticking them in the ground and then seeing and hearing then whizz around- oh i do love it when art is emotive and this piece certainly is for me . thank you
xx
