Stencil Fun

Good morning to you all on this first day of May! I have no dancing around the Maypole for you but I have had fun in my art journal using stencils for our new challenge at Country View Challenges and I shall be sending you off on a blog hop at the end of the post so that you have the chance to win a fabulous prize from Country View Crafts.

Chris is our host this month and she is challenging us to Use A Stencil in our projects but if you are like me you might want to use more than one!

I gathered some inks, actually quite randomly, but I quite like stacking them to get an idea of how the colours might look together.

I used the Wrinkle Free Distress Technique to get the ink on the pages - not easy with a book but it's just one of those things you have to go with what you get !!

I gathered a few stencils.

I blended the same inks through the stencils and then added texture paste through the text stencil once everything had dried.

Next I added some stamping using Cobalt Blue Archival Ink and a selection of stamps.

I then gathered a few bits and pieces from my scrap box.

I am never too sure at this stage whether I will use them all but it is nice to have a selection to play around with.

I decided to keep the embellishments simple on the left hand page .......

........ and a heavier collage on the right.

A bright mix of colours but by using stencils I have managed to blend them together.

I hope this inspires you to join us in our challenge this month where your entry will be entered into our £20 Voucher draw. However, in addition, running alongside our challenge, we are also running a Blog Hop with a Sissiz Big Shot Machine and Die Bundle as the prize. How brilliant is that! To enter you must be a follower of our challenge blog and hop along to each of our Design Team Members Blogs and leave a comment.

To start the blog hop from here, or to continue if you came here from Gabrielle's blog then hop on over to Rachel's blog:

Thank you so much for joining me today! and good luck with the challenge and blog hop prize draw.

Jennie x

Lovely pages Jennie and I love how you still ended up with a fairly subtle background from which your collaged elements really pop inspite of it being quite busy. Very clever and lots of lovely interest.

Jennie, I think your colors look wonderful together, and looks as if they were all carefully chosen! The stencil work is just beautiful and so perfectly balanced. Speaking of balance, the darker tones of your scraps/pieces lend a perfect balance to the light delicate look of your background! You are so talented and such an inspiration! Hugs!

Love the way you use colours soft and subtle
This is a fabulous piece Jennie. I'm a great fan of Tim Holtz stencils but I only have a couple at the moment. I like you way of choosing the colours by stacking them together, I'll definitely be doing that next time I make something. Love your colours and composition :) x
