Guest Designing at Frilly and Funkie with Something Old
Hello everyone! and thank you for joining me today for my Guest Designer project at Frilly and Funkie for their Something Old Challenge.
It was a great pleasure to win the April Showers Challenge last month and so here I am back as Guest Designer for the current challenge.
My "something old" is this old spoon picked up in a charity shop and which has been lurking in one of my boxes for quite a while. I thought it would be fun to use it in a mixed media piece and see how it took inks and Infusions. I was not disappointed!
I started off with this old button card which again was lurking in one of my heaving drawers of stuff to be used! The front where the buttons had been was not very great but the reverse was pretty solid and took a couple of coats of thick gesso very well and some texture paste through a stencil.
Then I made a little cluster around my old spoon. I wasn't worried about colours at this stage as everything was going to be coated in gesso before spritzing the Infusions.
And then for the fun bit! I sprayed the whole piece with water before gently dropping a small amount of PaperArtsy Infusions A Little Jaded here and there, spritzing again and then mopping up before drying with a heat tool.
I love the varying degrees of colour the Infusions give. Having discovered that the Infusions work so very well with Distress Oxides I blended a little Vintage Photo around the edges and spritzed again, just lightly as I didn't want to lose the Infusions.
I managed to get a little text stamping here and there and also added glass beads. I seem to be getting the hang of these now without them going everywhere!
I love the way the Infusions "puddle" in the textured spaces and around the embellishments.
And worked really well on the metal spoon too.
Thank you for joining me today and thank you to Linda and the team at Frilly and Funkie for inviting me to be part of the current challenge. Many of you will know that Frilly and Funkie have been a great inspiration to me over the years.
