Celebrating My Love of Mixed Media

Today we are celebrating our sixth birthday at A Vintage Journey.
I can't believe we have been creating in our shabby vintage steampunk style for so long!

As always our fabulously creative Brenda (Bumblebees and Butterflies), the founder of A Vintage Journey,  has challenged us to celebrate our art and craft and so I am celebrating my absolute LoVE of assemblage mixed media.

I will never ever tire of this mixed media art form. It doesn't always go to plan ...... my canvas went through a few different stages before I was happy with the outcome!

I love using paper clay elements (the butterfly and button) .....

..... and a combination of flowers, some painted during the process and others added afterwards.

I love adding textures in the form of scrim and texture paste and then layering over the top lace, metal, paper clay and wood embellishments along with some paper flowers. It all starts coming together when gesso is added.

A little bit of stamping here and there ........

.... then adding colour with A Bit Jaded Infusions from PaperArtsy and adding wax and gold seed beads. In order to lift the overall colour a little, I added a few white and light blue flowers.

And finally, painting gesso here and there to add a little contrast.

So what will you celebrate with us? Just link your project to our challenge blog post and if it is not really obvious then do share with us how your project relates to our celebration theme.

You can find all the details of our challenge by hopping over to the blog HERE and also get the chance to see all the wonderfully inspirational celebration projects created by the other Creative Guides.

Thank you for joining me and I hope you have a fabulous creative weekend.

I am overwhelmed at how beautiful this is. I have no idea how to do mixed media like this, but I would love to learn. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous work.
Subtle, delicate, so so pretty. Perfect composition of all the elements and wonderful use of white space. What a wonderful celebration of your creative journey. Happy birthday to us!!

Wow, what a beautiful make! I loved seeing how it all came together, the texture paste, drywall tape with the different assemblage pieces look so amazing 😁. The way you layered everything together is so beautiful, I've always wanted to try this but have never been brave enough ...lol 😉. Thanks for the inspiration and wishing you a wonderful weekend! Happy birthday wishes! Hugs, Jo x

First of all I sincerely apologise for being so late to visit . I got really behind with all my blog visits at the end of last year and struggled to catch up so hope you will understand that I have had to draw a line under that and start again with our 20/ 21 year .

Your Mixed media canvas is definitely worthy of celebrating, Jennie. It is an absolute beauty! Your assemblage arrangements, textures ,detail, colours and composition are all superb.
Simply Stunning !
