So Tender

It is the most AWFUL day here - very wet, very windy and very cold! It is also another dark day and just so difficult to craft or do anything really, so I thought I would cheer myself up with a blog post and share this layout I made last week for a challenge over at Swirlydoos.

I absolutely adore this photograph of Callum and Caitlyn, taken back in the summer when Caitlyn was only three weeks old.

I was entering a Swirlydoos Round Robin Challenge and I was last in the team, so the design was set, including the inclusion of the flourish and flower cluster. I only had this one piece of double sided Maja Design paper which I used for everything! by the time I had finished punching and cutting I had only two little strips left! As I was only using one sheet of 12 x 12 I decided to make my own background paper using Paper Artsy Grunge Paste, a damask mask and Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

Peggy also challenged us to use a technique from the Swirlydoos Youtube Video Library and I chose Rae's recent distressed/embossed chippie technique which you can find HERE if you would like to have a go.

It has now taken me four attempts to type this blog post, so I wonder if it will actually post! All due to the weather I am afraid and the continual storms we keep getting.  I am also struggling to visit some of your blogs - I can see your lovely projects but am unable to leave a comment. I haven't forgotten you! (We are all looking forward to the new Shetland broadband link but no date has been set yet.)

Thank you for visiting and I hope the weather is a whole lot better where you are x

Hi Jenny. I keep thinking about you since your weather has been really bad. We watched the Up Hellya celebrations on the news today and it looked wonderful. Tender is a great word for such a beautiful page. A gorgeous photo and your embellishments are stunning. Keep Safe until the storm passes. Hugs Rita xxx

I secretly long to have a room filled with Maja Design papers.... you have used that sheet beautifully on this wonderful layout. That picture is delightful and really does deserve centre stage Jennie! I love the way you tucked little pieces of lace behind the base too, such a wonderful touch. I am afraid the weather is much the same here in middle England. Anne x

So glad Blogger decided to cooperate and let you post this - it's just lovely. The photo is adorable to start with, and I love your delicate textured damask in the background, and the beautiful shabby distressing of the papers. Lovely!

Hope your weather perks up a bit soon...

A truly delightful layout for your gorgeous photo Jennie, the soft colours and gentle layers fit in with the whole feel of this piece, it's very calming and sweet. Hope the weather improves soon, it's still miserable here in the south but I went over the road to see my friends this morning without a coat on. Take care. xx
