Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 29 : Weathered Wood Grunge

I am really loving these challenges - so many techniques I have not attempted before.  However .............. I am not sure that my weathered grunge is as it should be!

With no wood embossing folder I used a rather busy Tim Holtz Sissix folder and although I used acrylic dabber paint (Aqua) my DI Walnut Stain Ink didn't stay on it very well.  If you want to know about the technique just go to page 50 of the Compendium of Curiosities where there is also a rather swish picture of what it should like!

Do also click the link below to Linda's blog and see the other wonderful entries - so much inspiration.

And thank you to Alison (Craftytrog) for the great tip on heating acrylic ribbon!  I've got LOADS after doing wedding invitations last year and it shrivels and twists beautifully.

Your tag is very pretty, love the blues! And how cool is that to curl up the ribbon?! I'll have to try that one!

I think your weathered wood technique came out wonderfully. It's so interesting to see how so many different folders were used and how they turned out.

I used the melting ribbon technique on a lot of my 12 tags of Christmas - its a great thing to do!

Jennie, I'm so glad you're enjoying the challenges! You're doing a wonderful job on them, every single time, and this is certainly no exception! I love the gentle color palette and the beautifully-created weathered wood grunge. The folder you used worked great. The flower and flourish and little "Wish" ticket are perfect, and the pearls give it just the right amount of bling!
