Grungy Monday 25 : Create a Loving Tribute
An unusual challenge for this week's Grungy Monday - using your favourite Tim Holtz products create a loving tribute to a friend, relative or inspiring person who has passed away.
My scrapbook layout celebrates my wonderful parents who I sadly lost many years ago when they were only a handful of years older than I am now. They both had cancer at the same time which was kind of unfair, but they were both amazingly strong for each other and for us. This wonderful photograph was taken when they were on honeymoon in July 1953. My mother used to make all her own clothes then, so I expect this dress was one of her own creations - isn't it stunning. I'd love to know what colour it was! She was also an (untrained) artist and I just know she would have loved Distress Inks and I often wonder what she would have created with them.
I struggled to find a suitable muted background paper, so just had to dive in and ink and stamp my own. It is the first time I have done this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So I expect I will be doing it again. I only used Antique Linen Distress Inks as I was trying to get a good tone on tone effect. Although I did add a little Vintage Photo for the splatters.
The Tim Holtz products used:
Distress Inks: Antique Linen and Vintage Photo for the background Victorian Velvet on the flowers
Die Cuts: Weathered Clock, Tattered Florals (I made the flowers) and Tattered Leaves
Grungepaper (Leaves)
Idealogy Tickets
Thanks again Linda for a great challenge. I wasn't too sure of this at first, but I spent a lovely afternoon thinking about my parents whilst doing this layout. There are some great entries for this challenge already over on Studio L3 so do have a look. And of course get along to the Tim Holtz blog for some great tutorials and inspiration.
I am also entering this layout into the Artistic Stamper November Monthly Challenge which is backgrounds. There are some wonderful design team creations so do check them out.
Have a great week!
