A Different Approach .......

Hello and welcome and I hope everyone is enjoying better weather than here! Our house is being battered by 70+ mph winds, sleet and hail! I am not sure whether this post will manage to break through into the ether!

I am sharing something a little different from my norm in this blog post. When teaching workshops I try to present a range of products which are easily obtainable (given our location on this northerly isle!) but which can also be used in different ways.  As an occasional purchaser of Stampin Up products (I love the card stock for my flower making) I decided a few months ago to become a demonstrator and have spent the last few months using Stampin Up punches, stamps, inks and card stock in my style.

In the process of becoming a demonstrator I have met a wonderful group of Stampin Up friends here in Shetland and last Saturday was one of our monthly team get-together's.

Rhoda had a chosen a lovely Prima layout for us to scrap lift - quite simple as we don't have very long and all we needed to take with us was a mug shot!

To start off with we used hemp to create a stitched background - punching the holes first which resulted in a bit of head scratching - but we got there!

Then I demonstrated some flower making - the white one was made with the SU Pansy Punch and Whisper White Cardstock. The flower layers were sprayed with water and then scrunched up in my usual style.  The rosette for the centre was made from SU Paper Clay and the Rosette Mould - having used paper clay for years I am finding this product one of the best I have ever used.

I also made this flower from the Pansy Punch using three layers of paper stock. After wetting the leaves I just gathered them together and added some stamens.

I only have a small range of stamps at the moment but I do love the range of butterfly and sayings stamps.

The main text on my layout says:

Happiness held is the seed;
happiness shared is the flower.

which sums up my fabulous life of crafting at the moment!

I hope to occasionally blog an SU project showing the versatility of the products for my workshop participants and lovely SU friends (and anyone else of course who might be interested!).

Thanks for looking and have a
 great weekend x

This is a lovely layout Jenny.
I like the interesting colour combination you have used.
It must be terrific to get together with the other SU ladies and bounce ideas about.
Stay safe and I do not envy you the winds!

Hello Jenny. It's been terrible day here too, the rain has never stopped. Your demo card is wonderful and the flowers look stunning. It must be lovely to have like minded peek to share your ideas with. I'm thoroughly enjoying the book and the stories too. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs Rita xxx

Love the stitching, and the honey colours against the bold white space... great layout, Jennie.

Sounds like you're having a great time with the SU stuff even if not with the weather... looking forward to seeing more of you "doing it your way"!

Stay safe and warm...
