Tag Monday at A Vintage Journey
As a break from our regular routine at A Vintage Journey, the Design Team are today sharing tags made in a vintage, shabby but Tim Holtz style. Hop on over for some fabulous designs and techniques from my DT team mates - each one so very different.
I have decided to share my take on Tim's January tag. As usual it is very different from his!
All the details are HERE on Tim's blog.
I used the same technique for my background using Broken China and Evergreen Bough Distress Paint and Faded Jeans Distress Spray over Melange Tissue Wrap. It was rather heavily splattered with Picket Fence Distress Spray!
2015 for us here in the north has been cold, wet, thundery, windy and snowy, so I tried to create a bit of an icy feel to my tag.
I wasn't overly keen on Tim's choice of embellishments so made a snowflake from the Paper Snowflake Die. Now this was all a bit of an experiment, but I just LOVE the way it came out.
I first painted the snowflakes with Picket Fence Distress Paint and speeded up the drying process with the heat gun which gave me some very nice bubbles! I then squeezed Aqua Alcohol Ink here and there straight from the bottle, getting a reasonable coverage and again drying with the heat gun. Lastly I blended in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink (it just happened to be on the desk) and this covered all the areas the alcohol ink had missed.
I used the same technique for the Industrious Stickers numbers.
I love the verdigris style patina this has created and am already looking around for something else to alter!!
I layered the snowflake with sticky fixers to give a bit of definition and finished with a large pearl.
We will be back on Friday at A Vintage Journey with our next challenge, so looking forward to seeing you then!
I would also like to enter my tag into Frilly and Funkie's current challenge which is WINTER WISHES. I always love the fabulous inspirational pieces posted by the F&F Design Team each challenge, so do hop on over and take a look at the wonderful projects.
Have a lovely week.
