Vintage Wallet

Hello and Welcome!

It's the first of the month (again !!!) and time to share a project for our challenge at Mini Album Makers. I have a simple project this month but using some fabulous vintage papers.

My lovely friend Astrid MacLean has been designing papers for a long time, but has recently designed a full set of downloadable papers in her characteristic vintage style. I absolutely adore them and have created this wallet with her Shabby Rose Kit (details at the bottom of the post of where you can access them).

It is a simple fold wallet made from a couple of pieces of A4 cardstock ...

... with a flap .....

... a couple of pockets ......

... and all held together with some tea dyed vintage seam binding.

Here is how it all came together:

I cut my A4 brown cardstock down to 8" x 11 1/2" and scored it along the long edge at 5 3/4" to make an A5 booklet. The papers print at just a little smaller than A5 so this gives a small surrounding edge. I blended Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges of the booklet and the papers before glueing them down.

And I did the same thing for the back.

A piece of cream A4 cardstock was then trimmed down to 7 3/4" x 11" and scored on the long edge at 5 1/2" to make a slightly smaller booklet to fit inside the outer cover. I added a flap to the right hand side from a piece of cream cardstock 7 3/4" x 3 1/2" with a 1/2" score on the long edge to secure to the booklet.

And then covered it with more vintage paper.

Another piece of cream cardstock measuring 7 3/4" x 3" created the pocket on the back of this inside booklet.

And then it was down to decorating using the lovely labels, tags and other ephemera from the set and adding sentiments stamped on tea dyed paper.

A final touch was to add a decorated glassine envelope to the inside back cover - I had to get a bit of lace in somewhere!

I hope you will join us in our challenge this month by posting your mini album makes. There is no theme, just whatever you have made and completed this month. Hop on over to Mini Album Makers to see all the details and inspiration from the rest of the team.

As always thank you for joining me and have a great crafting month!

Lovely project. I really liked the proportions and the colors. Then I began to look closer at it and noticed the Monroe address in Grand Rapids Michigan. Just an hour from me. And even greater connection!!! Thank you for sharing this project. You made my day start out well.
